Metro Police
To the Metro Las Vegas Police Department:
We at the Church of Bacon respect you. We know full well that you risk your lives on a daily basis to protect us, and we sincerely appreciate the job you do. That’s why we thought it important to make clear to everyone that the name of our organization is not in any way associated with a hateful term used by some to describe police officers.
The name of our church is intended to accomplish two goals:
- Bring people of all religions or no religion together to show that we have had enough of fundamentalists overtaking the cultures and doctrines of the world’s great religions and philosophies in ways that are hateful and divisive. In contrast, almost everybody loves the smell of bacon and we believe this is a way for all kinds of people to find common ground.
- To provide a “hotline” to officers that feel pressured by religious fundamentalists from those within the department. If a superior at work asks you to “pray in Jesus’s name,” this is a blatant violation of church-state separation and should be reported. If any one of you feel pressured to issue a violation of a law as explained in the 5 minute video in the pull down tab “origin” under “about us” we would like to know about it.
The founder of this organization is an advisory board member of The Military Religious Freedom Foundation, an organization whose membership is 96% made up of Christians who are tired of their own superiors telling subordinates that they are “not Christian enough.” Messages to our hotline email address go to a former police office and level-one security expert in Kansas City who knows how to protect you from reprisal, and all correspondences are totally confidential. You need not give your own name, but if you get in touch please provide the offending officer’s name, position, date, time and place of the incident.
The complaint will be passed on to a prominent Las Vegas resident and subsequently passed on to civilian authorities for action. That email address is praetorianguard_896@hotmail.com.
Thank you for your service to our community.
